Come play this summer

These holidays, school playgrounds at 42 NSW public schools will be open for neighbours and others to enjoy under a NSW Government initiative to broaden community recreation and open space options. Schools in the program will be open from 8am to 6pm from 23 December to the end of the school holidays in late January. 2018 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. NDIS continues its roll out across NSW

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. The NSW government is writing to the families of children and young people with disability who currently receive disability supports in the rollout areas to advise how and when they will enter the NDIS. NAPLAN Online School readiness test

NSW schools will participate in the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test from 14 August to 22 September. There is a lot of information for schools, students and parents on the NAPLAN Online transition website. The school readiness test is a ‘practice run' for schools to assess their technology as we prepare to transition to NAPLAN Online. Healthy School Canteens

Introducing Healthy School Canteens

The introduction of the revised Healthy School Canteen Strategy increases the availability of healthy food and drink options in school canteens to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. It replaces the Fresh Tastes@School Strategy in NSW schools that was commonly known as the traffic light system. The revised strategy is consistent with the 2013 Australian Dietary Guidelines and classifies food and drinks as either Everyday or Occasional. Sugary drinks will continue not to be sold. Coding Club

‘Code Club' has started at Gardeners Road Public School! This is an extra-curricular programming course offered to students in Years 3 to 6. The purpose of our ‘Code Club' is to build on the students' knowledge of coding and programming. Over the course of the year, students will be learning a number of programming languages, including Scratch and Python, and using them to design computer games, animations and websites. Positive Behaviour for Learning

Positive Behaviours for Learning What Does it Look Like Now at GRPS? The safe, respectful, learning students at Gardeners Road Public School are positively recognised in a variety of ways by all of the teaching staff - most importantly through a GForce ticket. Students have one semester (two terms) to earn 30 tickets to complete their GForce card which is displayed in their classroom. Make Online Payments It is now possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. Payments can be made using either a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card.
